mrmortondk
Hi, I had a very simple Unraid running. One disk (was usb external disk, now SATA internal) one cache drive (m2). The array disk was a 2tb USB disk, the USB enclosure broke. So i took the disk out of the enclosure and connected it directly to the computer SATA. I thought that i could just swap the USB disk to the SATA (same actual hardrive) but Unraid would not allow that. Then I made a new config, maintained the Pools, and added the disk to the array. Now it says "Unmountable: Unsupported partition layout". The disk have been formatet and used in unraid. Is there any way to get the disk mounted and running, with the data on it? I can see all data when i mount it as a unassigned drive. I know it was a very unsafe way to run unraid, and there are no critical data on the disk. But is would be cool to get it running again with out formatting. etc. Kind regards Morten Quote Link to comment
JorgeB
Some USB bridges are not transparent, and change the partition layout, others can even encrypt the data, i.e., it will never work outside the enclosure, see if the drive mounts with the UD plugin, since it doesn't have the same partition layout requirements as Unraid does. mrmortondk
It mounts fine in UD and I can see all data. Quote Link to comment
Solution JorgeB Posted September 9, 2023 Solution Share Posted September 9, 2023 You will need to backup and then let Unraid re-format the disk outside the enclosure, then restore the data. Quote Link to comment
