Paradiselost1983
Hello, I recently had a hard drive fail I removed it and replaced it with a drive that was larger than either of my parity drives. After swapping the larger drive to parity I used the old parity drive as a new data drive. I have started the data rebuild but it’s showing anywhere from 24 to 52 days until complete. Diagnostics attached. Any idea why such a long time? In the past these have been less than a full day for sure. Thanks! tower-diagnostics-20230911-2032.zip Quote Link to comment
trurl
Just to clarify. You didn't do the parity swap procedure, did you? Since you have dual parity and one disabled disk, the actual parity swap procedure wasn't necessary, you simply replaced and rebuilt parity the usual way, then replaced the disabled disk with the original parity and rebuilt the disabled disk. Is that all correct? I don't see any I/O errors in the syslog. Do you see anything in the Errors column in Main? Quote Link to comment
Paradiselost1983
Thanks for your reply! You are correct I didn’t do the swap procedure just replaced and rebuilt. I don’t have any Errors in the column. Quote Link to comment
Solution JorgeB Posted September 12, 2023 Solution Share Posted September 12, 2023 There's something writing to the array, stop that and speed should improve by a lot. Quote Link to comment
Paradiselost1983
Thanks! For some reason I didn’t even notice anything writing to the array. I stopped it was able to successfully complete the data rebuild. 1 Quote Link to comment
