jpurdy647
My drive says it is pre-fail in some attributes although it is a year old with minimal usage, my file server mostly archives, not a lot of in and out going on. Wondering how big a deal this is since I got a good hard drive and was hoping for longevity. Also the Newer WD Red drive seems to be fairing worse than my much older WD Blue drive at 1 and 2 years old respectively. Also I have a smart report saying thumbs down for the Red drive (which is parity) but I can't figure out what the actual error was that caused the thumbs down. Looking for some advice from some much more knowledgeable folk, thanks a ton! Here are my smart reports for both drives, let me know if I can provide better info jpurdy647server-smart-20231009-1852 (1).zip jpurdy647server-smart-20231009-1900.zip Quote Link to comment

Probably the CRC error (total of 6) which isn't a huge deal and usually result of slight cabling issue. Quote Link to comment
jpurdy647
Ahh! That makes sense! I will reseat the cable and if that increases further / again i'll replace it. Much thanks! Quote Link to comment
