How to Recover Data from a Crashed Disk Array on Unraid OS

Featured Replies

Hi!

How to Recover Data when a hard disk is down and the operating system on the boot device is damaged, a part of the data becomes inaccessible since it is located on the parity disk?

Are there specific tools or methods recommended for data recovery from a crashed disk array in Unraid OS?

There is no data on parity.. parity is just an extra disk that allows the data from a missing disk to be calculated from all the other disks.

Also,  the boot flash is just a downloaded archive of the OS. The OS is loaded into RAM from that archive and runs completely in RAM. The only important thing on flash is your configuration which is in the config folder.

Do you have a current backup of flash? Or can you make a copy of that config?

Do you know your disk assignments? That is the most important thing for recovering data. If not we need to figure out which disk is parity

I don`t have a current backup and don`t know which disk is parity.

Perhaps it is possible to connect my drives to some kind of utility to recover (save) data from them?

Do you have a copy of your registration key or are you using a trial key?

The method described in this article looks logical and correct. But I could not restore the system.

As my array was created with one parity disk, the information is stored in its original form on two another disks.

I take the disks out of Unraid OS storage system and connect them to a Windows computer.

Installed Hetman RAID Recovery and ran the raid constructor in it.

When I gave all the parameters I know, I saw the preview of my array. I scan and unfold it, program show its folders .

Don't know anything about that. The array data disks in Unraid are readable individually on any Linux, since they are not really a RAID volume.
