janipewter
Hi, I have just come home to find my server has completed a parity check and found 7430 errors. The first parity disk is showing 42,692 errors although the second parity disk is showing 0 errors. It says the parity is valid. What is going on here, is it a bad disk? Both parity disks are brand new and only have 360 hours power-on time. The first parity disk is showing 486 reallocated sector count. Quote Link to comment

On a newish drive I would be worried if this value is not 0. In theory reallocated sectors are OK as long as the number stays stable, but this number on a new disk suggests to me it may have been damaged in transit. Quote Link to comment
