November 11, 20232 yr Hi Love the look of Unraid interested in a purchase but see a mixed bag of some saying they have had it working on this model with USB https://www.qnap.com/en-uk/product/ts-869 pro/specs/hardware Website says it needs 4GB RAM to use Unraid - my model has been upgraded to 3GB is this likely to work? Will be running shares, and possible ISCSI shares (Wont be using the virtualisation/dockers) Want to use an OS where I could potentially move the hard drives to a different NAS running Unraid in the future and dont want to be locked into QTS file system anymore. Thanks for any input.

But its does boot and run in 2Gb. Create a trial usb and boot. This is my hardware. https://www.qnap.com/en/product/ts-859u-rp+/specs/hardware?gclid=CjwKCAiA6byqBhAWEiwAnGCA4Kd7tBpifdwXep3yaFHEOESUNgVnpdmJtlJYmBA1N1OOajPYZZ7LgRoC4bMQAvD_BwE Also I have a plugin to support LCDs on qnap.

November 27, 20232 yr I have unraid running on a TS-869 Pro with 3GB of ram. I don't remember it being hard to setup (I did it about a year ago), but don't get your hopes up regarding performance. I'm only using it for backing up my main unraid server.
May 1, 20251 yr Hi all, First post on this forum, discovering Unraid, switching away from QTS. Since the information on this point is not always crystal clear on the internet I just wanted to share that I have been able to boost my QNAP TS-869Pro from 1GB original module to 2x new 2GB modules = 4GB, all well recognized by Unraid. When installing the modules just be careful to push them down enough to make sure they settle ok into the connectors, there is a risk that it looks like they are settled but are in fact not. After the update it's like night and day on the behavior of the TS-869Pro under Unraid. With 1GB the system was allowing itself to use only around 500-600MB and as soon as an rsync was launched I was not able to use the GUI anymore and even ssh commands were very sluggish. With 4GB the system uses c. 850MB and the GUI is smooth. I also have a QNAP TS-859Pro+ that I'll try to switch to Unraid and upgrade as well to 4GB, I'll keep you posted. Alex
