September 26, 201114 yr I remember reading somewhere it was not advised to copy data to the array while streaming. I was wondering if this also applied if you were streaming something from a different data disk than the one the files are copied to. I assume it to be ok since the copy uses parity + data disk X and streaming data disk Y. is my assumption correct or am i overlooking something? cheers, shin

The copy process may just slow down a little bit but that should be able it. I have copied full DVD rips to the server while streaming others.
September 26, 201114 yr Author I thought writing an reading to the same disk caused defragmentation. don't remember the exact source tho. not sure how severe. regards. shin
September 26, 201114 yr Reading while writing will have no effect on fragmentation. Reading while writing is perfectly fine.
