November 26, 20232 yr I set up a mailcow mail server and while I can send mail (and the recipient actually receives it), I am unable to receive mail. I was hesitant to attempt hosting my own email server due to all the negativity surrounding it. It was relatively easy to get to this point but I don’t understand how to solve this issue. I attached a screenshot of my dns records if anyone sees a problem let me know. Also I see online people list dns records and I don’t understand what “IN” is?

LOL😂, yeah, that's historical for describing the "class" the record belongs to. "IN" means "Internet" and, so far, it is the only defined class in the world. (Did not change within the last 40yrs, unlikely it will in the future * ) So, you will see it in every record, just type it and don't worry.😁 (*) Maybe we will someday have a Net on the moon or mars, then they will introduce "MO" and "MA" I guess) Edited November 26, 20232 yr by MAM59

I guess that makes sense but I spent too much time pondering it. LOL I ended up get my mail server up and running but I gave up on mailcow and going with iRedMail. TonyTeachesTech has a great “how to”. I learned a lot in the process. That being said, I have residential ISP connection and with everything setup and running, I don’t know what to expect going forward. I’m assuming as some point my ISP will give me a new IP and everything will stop working. At that point, will I just have to go back into my DNS records and update all the IP addresses? Is is possible to use something like duckDNS or Cloudflare DDNS to keep everything updated?
November 30, 20232 yr I would recommend Cloudflre DDNS since you are already using cloudflare. Once again Spaceinvader one has made an excellent video on how to do this. You can find it here. You can skip past the duckdns portion.
