December 4, 20232 yr Community Expert Hi All I have only just discovered "USB Manager" from SimonF - it has changed the way I use USB devices with UnRAID completely 😍 However, I have today had a problem and have decided it must be a failed USB card... but thought I would ask in case anyone can advise... I bought a 'cheap-ish' PCIe to USB-C 3.1 (10Gbps) card, so my transfer rate to my USB disk would be better than the onboard USB. I have a Windows VM which I use to create a daily backup to an external 4Tb USB SSD. I set it up a couple of months ago and it has been great - till the last few days. It seems that the USB disk 'disappears' from the Windows VM mid-backup. When I look in USB Manager the disk couldnt be seen. So after messing about I rebooted the whole UnRAID server and when it was up again the disk was visible. So I started the backup again and within a few seconds it had failed and the disk couldn't be seen. So, I changed the cable and moved the PCIe card to a spare slot and after a reboot I now dont see the USB SSD at all in USB Manager. The LED is lit on the drive, so it has power from the port - but just cant be seen. I am about to return the card and order another - but thought I would see if anyone has any other ideas? This is the card I am using... PCIe -> USB3.1 card Diags are attached. If it is a failed card I may get a 20Gbps version and wondered if anyone has any observations or comments on this one... PCIe -> USB3.2 card Thanks in advace. unraid-diagnostics-20231204-1545.zip Edited December 4, 20232 yr by SliMat

December 4, 20232 yr Author Community Expert Thanks @SimonF - yes, its a great plugin - before I found this it used to be a pain trying to correctly passthrough to the host VM. Interestingly enough I now cant see another USB disk I use, when its plugged in to its USB card, or even the port on the motherboard of the physical server - so I am about to removed the two extra USB cards and start from scratch - but the way this failed makes me think its hardware too... so as its only a few weeks old I will send it back. Many thanks for the reply - I will leave this open till I have confirmed its a dead card... just in case.
December 4, 20232 yr Author Community Expert Removed the suspect card and everything else is working correctly now - so looks like it was a failed card
