How to change from Legacy to UEFI boot directly on the USB drive?

The above from the manual is very much untrue. On my Asus mobo it is used constantly when CSM is enabled on the bios. Unfortunately the USB drive is set to Legacy.

Is there a way to change from Legacy to UEFI boot directly on the USB drive?

If you rename EFI- to EFI in the flash drive it can boot either way, the way it boots will depend on the BIOS setting.
