October 18, 201114 yr Author OMG!!!! Unassigning the cache disk did the trick!! After starting the array, my share immediately worked!! So its a cache disk problem, Thanx very much Peter! Maybe I should empty my cache disk and pre-clear it, before re-assigning to the array again, and than see what happens?
October 18, 201114 yr That's good to hear. This has been a major pain in the ass screwing with your unRAID happyness. The parity drive issue was likely just a "red herring" for the user share issue but it was very good you starting troubleshooting and caught that issue before losing a data disk due to a flakey parity disk right when you most needed it. I would be wary of anything stored on the cache disk. If possible, I would just replace any contents that it's holding. Two other questions. Did you perform a reiserfsck on the cache drive? Did you open the cache disk directly and confirm it has a single "Media" folder on it and that any contents appear OK? If the answers to both the question above is yes, then I'm thinking preclearing it would be a very good idea. It doesn't appear you use the cache for anything besides it's intended purpose, so pre-clearing won't mess-up applications or anything like that. Preclear will wipe-off any file system corruption and also prove the disk is good. Peter
October 18, 201114 yr Author Hi, I did not reiserfsck-ed the cache disk! I'll try and do this first. If the result is fine, I'll keep it like this. If its not, I'll pre-clear the disk and procede frome there. Again 1000x thanx! I'l let you know what the result is when I'm done.
October 19, 201114 yr Good to see you've got it sorted. When you posted that you had reiserfsck checked all the disks but parity I never even thought to post "and the cache disk too?". Peter
October 20, 201114 yr Author Ok, So now the cache drive is Pre-Cleared, added in the main screen, formatted and running.. ..but the user share which worked just fine without the cache drive, is gone from the moment the cache drive stepped in.. Any ideas Peter? Syslog.txt
October 21, 201114 yr Author Hey, After a day without the forum (was it offline or something?) I found this thread: http://lime-technology.com/forum/index.php?topic=14638.0 I tried to set the minimum cache free size to a value other than "blank" in my server too, and everything is fine!! Now it works like it used to work. Glad this problem is gone. Thanx everyone for helping me!
