I’m new and I have only 1 nvme connected in array, I want to move the disk with the data(dockers and vm) to pool, is it possible?

the idea is to have the nvme in pool and a hdd in array.

is the best way for simply home server?

Yes, it's possible, you can do a new config (Tools - New Config)

It's as simple as that? I don't need to change the dockers path or anything? thank you

I'm in the same situation. I've got two disks in the array (with no parity disk) that I want to change as a pool device, without loosing its contents. What steps should I follow?

 

I'm new to Unraid and had initially selected these two disks that only contain videos that can be downloaded again, so I don't think any parity is worth it. Instead I want to set new drives in the array, this time with parity drives, and store more important data like nextcloud, etc. All the folders from VMs, Docker, appdata, etc are stored in a pool, using SSDs in a Raid1.

Two separate pools or one pool? The latter is not possible without loosing contents of at least one disk, possibly both, depending on the filesystem in use.

Well I guess that my hands are tied then. As an "alternative", is it possible to create a share and limit it spanning to a subset of disks? The reason behind that is that I could use older disks with more hours on them to store non-critical data like movies and shows. Meanwhile using the newer disks (with far less hours) to store more important data such as photos, backups or data for nextcloud.

Yes, you can use the include or exclude option with every share.

Your hands aren't tied at all - you just have to plan the move and back up (and restore) the data. Very possibly the same thing you'll need to do if a pool drive ever fails.
