Server keeps rebooting

Recommended Posts

Dear Unraiders,

Last month I've repurposed an old gaming PC as my Unraid media server.
Before the switch to Unraid, the PC was running Windows 10 and was rock-solid, working for up to 30+ days without a reboot.

Ever since I've moved to Unraid I've been having stability issues and wasn't able to go for a few days before the server unexpectedly rebooted triggering an "Unclean shutdown" and starting an "Automatic Correcting Parity-Check".

I've upgraded the PC with a couple of Seagate Exos X20 18TB drives and two additional sticks of G.Skill Ripjaws V 16GB (same type and vendor as the ones already isntalled in the PC). At first I thought that the new RAM was causing problems, since I had no issues before, but after trying all sorts of things I'm getting a bit desperate.

So far I've:

  • Disabled the overclock on the CPU, now running with stock settings
  • Disabled the XMP profile, now running with stock settings
  • Plugged the USB into a different port
  • Checked all data/power connections
  • Booted the server with all RAM (old and new) installed
  • Booted the server with only the old two sticks of RAM
  • Booted the server with only the new two sticks of RAM
  • Upgraded the OS from 6.12.4 to 6.12.6
  • Switched the "Docker custom network type" setting from "macvlan" to "ipvlan"
  • Booted the server in Safe Mode
  • Booted into Memtest86+, no errors found (tested only the old RAM - 15h with 3 successfull passes)

Hi @itimpi,

Thank you for your prompt reply.

I used the word "reboot", because that is what happens.
The system power cycles and starts again triggering an "unclean shutdown".

I would use the term "crash" if I was able to catch an error of some sort, but I wasn't able to pin it down.

CPU Cooling:
The CPU is cooled by a be quiet! Dark Rock 3 (190W TDP), running at a comfortable 30-35 °C.
Since the CPU is no longer overclocked it's running even cooler now.

PSU:
The PSU is a Corsair RM 750X and has 750W of available power.
This is way more then what the system needs right now.

What bothers me the most and makes the troubleshooting even harder is that I'm not experiencing the same issues under a different OS.
As mentioned in my firs post the system has been rock-solid for years on Windows.

If you could take a look at the provided logs, maybe you will notice something relevant.

Your help is much appreciated 👍
