Has anyone tried running additional services from the flash drive?

I dont know much about linux, but i am looking at getting a networked dvd player which needs a service running via windows or linux box.

 

Has anyone tried this? if so, with what networked player software?

it would be nice to not usa a dedicated box for the service, and have it run off the flash drive.

    There was some talk a while ago about adding Wizd support in the future I believe.  That would be absolutely ideal for me, I currently have to have a PC in the middle.
