Moving to unraid from a windows box, few concerns

Featured Replies

Hi there, been lurking for some time now, very close to moving my files to unraid. currently on a windows 11 PC, just running Plex and sharing folders to my network.

My big concern is speed, I know unraid won't be as fast as truenas/freenas but I'm concerned it will move files slower than my windows does now.

Would love to have parity, but I do backup on drives a few times a year already, not worth it if anything slows down

With the latest Unraid 6.12.x releases if you performance is important then you can make use of ZFS format pools.

How would this compare to transfer speeds on windows?

What's your goal?

Safety?... Family being able to get to family photos?

Speed?... Screw family, 'cause people are paying for access to my stuff?

Again... What's your goal?
