husmoaschta
Hello experts! I just built my very first Unraid-Server and ran into a problem. I use an old ASUS Z87-pro with 6 SATA ports from the Intel chipset and 2 from an AS1062 chip. The six 2TB Barracudas, connected to the Intel controller, run perfectly and are building the data array. But a 4TB Ironwolf pro, connected to one of the Asmedia ports is just not found by Unraid. It's also not found by Linux Systemrescue. But it's found by Windows and also my Zidoo mediaplayer. Then I swapped it with one of the 2TB Barracudas and this time the Ironwolf is found by the Intel controller, the Barracuda is not found again by the Asmedia. Systemrescue sees the Asmedia as an AHCI device by the way. It's a mystery for me and seems to be a general Linux/Asmedia problem. Is it a known problem and if yes, is there trick to get it solved? Many thanks in advance, Winnie Quote Link to comment
JorgeB
And if you swap the Ironwolf to the onboard SATA and the Barracuda to the Asmedia are both detected? Quote Link to comment
husmoaschta
No drive connected to the Asmedia is detected from Unraid and Systemrescue Quote Link to comment
JorgeB
That suggests the controller is not working correctly, it's one of the recommend controllers for Unraid, and used by a lot of users, including myself, you can post the diags to see if there's anything visible. Quote Link to comment
husmoaschta
I will do that tomorrow. Thank you! Quote Link to comment

JorgeB
Jan 2 07:42:07 hwServer kernel: ahci 0000:03:00.0: AHCI controller unavailable! Controller is falling to initialize, not sure why, if it works with Windows it may be a board compatibly issue. Quote Link to comment
husmoaschta
OK. Would this https://www.amazon.de/gp/product/B099ZCXJLQ/ref=ox_sc_act_title_2?smid=A21CTMDLFXECIV&th=1 be an adequate cheap alternative, working in Unraid? Quote Link to comment
