Bios issues

Hallo;

I try to use unraid from several usb sticks on 2 barebones from asus PN42 (see below). Boths sticks were made with and wihout the installer or manually and are recognised in Bios. When booting with them bootng doesn't work. On an old dell bussiness laptop the same usb stick works fine and Unraid OS gui etc could be mounted. in the Asus Bios both sticks are ignored, while a clonezilla live stick is used, when difining the unraid sticks first, clonezille second and the HDD as the latest. using WIndows UEFI or other OS in bios makes no difference . QUick bios is off, USB slot (2.0 or 3.1. front or back make no difference). Bios version 1.09 is the latest and was flashed today

I made some photos of BIOS setting but ar enot able to load them . details on the Barebone etc. below. Any help or links to existing threads would be appreciated.

thanks

I disabled fast boot and secure boot.

in picture 1 all devices are seen ( swissbit manualy installed, works on an old dell laptop but not on this asus barebone PN42; second usb stick , installed with unraid installer, 3.VBTM has a clonezilla live system , which works on the asus barebone PN42 when the first 2 sticks don't . 4 ubuntu SSD  (working)PXL_20240208_120416687.thumb.jpg.d669c0391ce61fb76f73d10463cb5b21.jpg

Select the Unraid flash drive in Boot Override, I assume it's the SwissbitUSB?

If UEFI boot is enabled in the flash drive (an EFI folder must exist, not EFI-), and it boots UEFI on a different PC and still doesn't on that one I'm sorry but I don't have more ideas.

yes it the swissbitUSB  I would like to use;
on this I see an EFI- folder not EFI??. I used the  zip file from the unraid page, extracted it to the Usb Stick, ran the make bootable bat. what else could i do (better)?

I did the renaming and the issue is solved. THANK you all for your patience and quick help.

Remark: the EFI- comes with the unRAIDServer-6.12.6-x86_64.zip file. maybe it is worthwile to check?

That is expected.  When you run the make_bootable.bat file it should have asked if you want UEFI booting and if you said you did it would rename that folder.

Having said that I do agree that it would probably better for the zip to be set up so it automatically enabled UEFI booting by default and only rename that folder if the user explicitly says they did not want that option.  In most cases it is OK to leave both legacy and UEFI booting options enabled
