Unable to view shares after unexpected shutdown.

Featured Replies

Hi everyone, we had a snow storm which resulted in a power outage overnight. I have an UPS which is set to shut down my UnRAID server and it looks like something went awry. This morning when I woke up and turned it back on, I do not see any of my shares.

When I go to my shares, it says "There are no exportable user shares"

Docker and VM's say "Docker/Libvirt service failed to start"

I can still see the array and all my files. The data appears to be intact. I have a backup of the flash drive and it seems to have the share listed properly, but the diagnostics show missing information. I hope it makes sense.

I don't mind making new shares and resetting up everything. I just don't want to lose data. The drives pass diagnostics and most of the drives are new.

Start the array in normal (not maintenance) mode and post new diagnostics.

Can you see your shares now? I see them in diagnostics, unlike those earlier. Repair of disk1 filesystem didn't put anything in lost+found so it should all be good.

Looks like disk7 is empty or mostly so, I assume this is expected.

Your appdata, domains, and system shares have files on the array. Ideally, these Docker/VM related shares would have all files on fast pool with nothing on the array, so Dockers/VMs will perform better, and so array disks can spin down since these files are always open.

You have those set with nothing as Secondary, so Mover will ignore them. Might be simplest to just install Dynamix File Manager plugin and move them yourself.

Nothing can move open files, so you will have to disable Docker (already disabled) and VM Manager in Settings before these can be moved.

So yes, I do see the shares now, however, it seems like Docker is still not working. Under Apps, it looks like I have to install the Community Applications Plugin again

Disk 7 is empty, Disk 5, 6 & 7 are my older drives, so I'm working through getting them upgraded to new drives with more storage

That's how I initially setup the server, but my nVME drive started failing SMART. I think I moved it to prevent interruption in usage. Then we had a baby and I lost track of time and things I did.

So, my question is, what's the best way to go about replacing the drive? I purchased a new drive already, just need to change it and do whatever is needed on UnRAID to get it setup.

That's odd. I see lots of plugins in your diagnostics, and I even see the folder for CA, but I don't see the .plg file for CA. That makes me wonder if you don't have some flash drive corruption. What do you get from command line with this?

ls -lah /boot

Do you have a current backup of flash?

Diagnostics shows you currently have 2 pools with data

/dev/nvme0n1p1 932G 354G 577G 39% /mnt/cache_1tb
/dev/nvme1n1p1 466G 155G 312G 34% /mnt/cache_500gb

Looks like the 1TB is failing, but seems to be readable. Since it is not a redundant pool, you will have to try to copy it so you can restore it to another drive.

I wouldn't try to move its data since moving would require writing to it to delete the files. Just see if you can copy it somewhere on the array or an unassigned device.

After you get CA back, you could install Dynamix File Manager plugin and use that to do the copying.

Then

I do have a backup of the flash drive.

The flash backup seems to have the .plg file on there.

Those FSCK files are from repair of corrupt files. You might be able to examine them and see what they might have been. Many config files are text.

Would you say at this point the best thing to do is replacing the cache drive and then try to rebuild the docker image? Or would you do that now and then replace the drive?

  • Community Expert

You want docker related appdata and system shares all on fast pool so get cache fixed first.
