Unraid data share getting full

Featured Replies

Unraid noob..

I have a data share on drive number 7...its about to fill up.. Bout 1.3 tb left..

I have the highwater setting set.. And the other setting.. My understanding is that if I keep putting stuff in the data directory will it start a new data directory on another empty drive? How can I test this to see if that's what it does? And help is greatly appreciated.

Can you reply back with your diagnostics and the name of the share in question so we can look at your settings and advise from there

Looks like you mean this one

d--a shareUseCache="yes" # Share exists on disk7

First highwater on 8TB disk is at 4TB, which is still more free than any of the 4TB, so it keeps going to next highwater, at 2TB. Then is should choose another disk.

Minimum Free for that share is 3GB. Is that larger than the largest file you expect to write to that share?

I got one 8tb drive and the rest 6 drives are 4tb drives.... I doubt I know how to fix it the right way....so my guess is that it's not gonna move any data or start filling up a different drive when this gets full... 😢

How are you writing data to that share? One or a few files at a time? Or some sort of bulk copy?

Highwater fills the 8tb until it has 2TB free.  Then it'll fill the 4TBs in turn until they all have 2TB free then all the drives in turn until they have 1TB free.

It shows I got 1.7 free...so it didn't do what it should at 2tb free...

And I'm using the arr's so I guess I don't know where to go from here...move the data off and start over again?

Do they have a lot to move? Possibly they have created all the destination folders in advance when the drive still was above highwater, and now they are just filling those folders.

I was hoping but don't believe so...maybe my easiest way to work around it... Keep unraid still working.. And just move the files may to a different machine running a raid of some type

Wish I understood unraid more then I do..

Dynamix File Manager plugin will let you work directly on the server with folders and files on the disks. Just use it to move to other drives.
