February 19, 20242 yr Hi all! So I want to spindown my disks after 1 hour of inactivity but there's a problem as Plex, due to Scheduled Tasks, seems to be waking up the disks at night regardless, which is pretty bad. Has anyone, running plex on unraid successfully bypassed that somehow? I'm sure doing database cleanups etc is fine because it's all in the appdata (which resides in the cache nvme). Also do any of the "arrs" do anything periodically that one should pay attention to? Could the cache dirs plugin be the savior here? Thanks!
February 19, 20242 yr If you have thumbnail generation, audio analysis, etc turned on it will have to read the files to do that. However, it should only do those things if there are new files there. Cache_dirs can help you some. Set the plex tasks to run before mover runs. Also I wrote this script to keep new media on cache indefinitely which will also avoid spinups for these tasks. https://forums.unraid.net/topic/154106-guide-how-to-keep-cache-drive-full-of-media/#comment-1371874 Edited February 19, 20242 yr by Terebi
