From BTRFS to XFS

Featured Replies

Hi there,

I would like to create a 4x20TB pool without any RAID or redundancy.

Should I use BTRFS or XFS instead? Now its running if BTRFS but I read so many negative aspects of it.

The Pool will be used for media files like movies or sound files. No Backup needed.

Thanks,

woko

Xfs does not support multiple devices, you can use btrfs or zfs, both are fine for raid0, but of the two I would use zfs.

I read so much "bad things" about btrfs - but in my case, a raid0 pool should not be a problem with btrfs?

If you are using HDD, you could just have the Unraid array with no parity. XFS would be good like that and has the usual Unraid array benefit of independent filesystems with mixed disk sizes .

Dont know which FS my Arrays uses right now, but I think its not BTRFS. And I wont touch the Array. I am talking about a 4*20TB pool just for media files without parity
