I managed to find the fault. 
It was badly applied thermal paste on the CPU. 

Installed Windows and it soon became clear.

 

Im very disappointed in Unraid for its lack of troubleshooting tools available.
Its necessary to have Windows around if there are any problems with the computer running Unraid.

 

(FYI something new I learned about Windows 11, it does not allow itself to be installed on a USB drive for some reason).

    You should be able to see your CPU temps in the BIOS. And Dynamix System Temps plugin shows this for me in Unraid.
