November 5, 201114 yr I had everything working fine. I was waiting for my norco 4224 to arrive. Now that it has I've put everything together in the case but my drives are all missing. I've attached the syslog. Any ideas what I did wrong? I have almost the same build as the Raj 24 beast. And it's not a matter of reassigning the drives. They don't show up under devices. syslog-2011-11-05.txt
November 5, 201114 yr The log only contains the first 19 seconds after a restart. Please post a log that shows at least 20 minutes of activity.
November 5, 201114 yr Author There is only one more line since the last entry: Nov 5 14:22:23 Tower kernel: NTFS driver 2.1.29 [Flags: R/O MODULE]. (System) I'm wondering if my bios needs to be set to something for this to work.
November 5, 201114 yr Author Yeah it is set to that. So I switch the bays and it looks like the controllers work but the onboard sata doesn't. Any idea what could have changed? The only thing I know is I'm using this http://www.monoprice.com/products/product.asp?c_id=102&cp_id=10254&cs_id=1025406&p_id=8186&seq=1&format=2 instead of the normal sata cable and I installed this http://www.monoprice.com/products/product.asp?c_id=104&cp_id=10407&cs_id=1040702&p_id=2530&seq=1&format=2 which also doesn't seem to recognize the drives. Is it possible that the card is bad and that it would knock out the other sata ports?
November 6, 201114 yr I am fairly sure you got the wrong SAS cable from monoprice. You need a reverse cable to go from the SATA ports to a SAS backplane. The cable you linked to is a FORWARD breakout cable.
