March 14, 200818 yr I followed the directions and copied the two files to my flash drive's root and rebooted. I did write down the necessary drive information and make a backup of my flash drive contents first. However, what I didn't do was go through all of this while at home. My unRAID server apparently has failed to boot, but I was hoping someone could tell me if it's just stuck waiting for me to choose which image I want to use (4.2.3 or 4.3.1b)? If user-interaction is required, then I've nothing to worry about. If it's supposed to boot after a time-out period, then I guess I can start hoping the work day will hurry up so I can get home and fix it I have a backup server mirroring this one, so the worst is I have to copy over 1TB of data again.
March 14, 200818 yr Another possibility is there's a problem with the server network driver, eg, server booted but the new network driver has a problem. This is one reason we released -beta1 in order to shake out linux-related issued before we introduce any major unRAID specific features. Do you recall what motherboard you're using?
March 14, 200818 yr Author The board is an Intel DG965RYCK and has an Intel Pro1000-based onboard NIC, so I wouldn't think that it would be a problem. But like you said, it is a beta. I suppose I'll just have to wait until I get home or my wife can spare her set of eyes for a minute to tell me what's going on. I'll be sure to report whatever is going on when I find out in case it's relevant to the bug reporting for this release.
March 14, 200818 yr Author Upon getting home, I found that I received a "BOOT FAILED" message as it was loading bzimage. Hit the reset button on the box and everything loaded fine. I didn't even have to reassign my drives.
