I have an X8SIL motherboard and was wondering if all the NICs are compatible with VT-d so that I can have one just for unraid and still have the rest for everything else?  I would like not to have to buy a separate NIC card.

    While I have not personally tried it. It should be able to pass a single nic to the unRAID guest.

     

    I think the x8sil would be a good base for esxi.

     

    I will mention that in my testing, I have been able to push 100% network traffic through the vmware virtual switch to unRAID. I had a dedicated nic for my unraid at first and removed it.

     

    Once someone compiles the VMXNET3 driver for vmtools for unraid, it would be a better route to take IMO.
