the 1.5 will be fine. i think the only thing you loose NCQ?

 

Don't limit yourself to a older server filled with PCI-x slots because it is "cheap". you will spend more money in the trying to source out older ram and PCI-x cards.

price the entire package they way you want it in the end.. ebay can be an awesome source for stuff but it can also be a place for people to dump albatrosses.
