March 20, 20242 yr Today at 10:45am I received a Parity disk error notification. "Parity disk in error state". I ran a Read-Check on the array and it just finished with 0 errors. This is my first experience with a drive issue so I wanted to reach out for assistance if someone can talk me through next steps please. Thanks, Chris diagnostics-20240319-2335.zip Edited March 20, 20242 yr by ccal12 Added diagnostics file
March 20, 20242 yr Community Expert Parity disk dropped offline, so there's no SMART, check/replace cables and post new diags.
March 20, 20242 yr Author Thanks, checked connections on cables and all seemed good. Disconnected and reconnected and brought back online. Disk shows now (disabled). Below are the new diags. Thanks for your time! bob-diagnostics-20240320-1011.zip
March 20, 20242 yr Community Expert Check connections, both ends, SATA and power, including splitters.
March 20, 20242 yr Community Expert It's still showing ATA errors, try swapping cables with a different disk, if the same the disk might have failed.
March 20, 20242 yr Author SMART displaying now for the drive. Here is the updated diags. Thanks all! bob-diagnostics-20240320-1100.zip
March 20, 20242 yr Community Expert Reallocated Sector Count is quite high, but they could be old, you can re-sync parity and keep monitoring the disk.
March 20, 20242 yr Author Would you mind stepping through that process? I have the array stopped right now and the drive shows in Parity but is disabled.

March 20, 20242 yr Community Expert You should see a SMART ( 👎 ) warning for that disk on the Dashboard page. Setup Notifications to alert you immediately by email or other agent as soon as a problem is detected.
March 20, 20242 yr Author During parity rebuild, the drive errors returned, so time for a new drive. Thank you for ALL for the guidance in getting me to this point. Thanks!!!
