Very slow write speeds

Featured Replies

Hello guys,

I am hoping you can help with something. I am new to all of this. I have just built my 12 bay server. The server is running just fine. However I am having some trouble putting data on tower. This is basicaly a media server for all my blu ray movies.  My transfer speeds will not go above 11mbs. From all the reading I have been doing this is way to slow. See screen shot.

Any Help would be greatly appreciated.

SYS LOG

That is exactly the expected speed if any part of the networking involved is running ar 100Mb/s

Your syslog does not show your Link Speed but I would guess you are using a 100MB switch/hub/router in the mix or your desktop is 100MB.

EDIT. Joe beat me to it.

One other thing i did notice in your Syslog. Your DHCP is set to look for a new IP every 10 min.

you might want to  make that a bit longer and set a static ip on the unRIAD server or set a reservation on dhcp the server to keep from loosing the connection.

It's worth checking that the PC you are transfereing files from (I assume a PC, but could be something else) has good / current network drivers installed.  I have on a couple of occasions had drivers that initially connect at 1000Mbits/sec but after some time drop down to 100, while still reporting that they are at 1000 with indicator lights and so on.

I had notice this myself, I have changed my sttings but I was in the middle of a preclear so I have to wait to reboot. I have a crappy 2wire from att. I am pretty sure that is the problem. Whats a good router that you guys would recommend.

Keep the router, add an inexpensive gigabyte switch.

Well guys I added a gigibit switch but it didnt do any good. I checked into my laptop and it will ony support 100mbs, so I guess I am screwed.
