Backing up the data on the server using an external drive?

Featured Replies

Right now, I have less than 3TB of data and likely will have for a while (assuming I don't back up recorded TV).  Currently, I have a 3TB drive that has all my data on it.  Can I hook this up (via eSata preferably) and have a program automatically back up the folders I select?  Currently, I use GoodSync to do this, but this would mean that on my new Unraid server, I'd be copying files over the network.  It's not that big of a deal to do, since I could have it run at nights, but a backup from the unraid server would be much faster and I'd have the drive in the same room as the server, and I can lock that room.

If I did this, what version of Unraid supports GPT?  I have 4.7.

Also, what version of Unrais should I support?  It seems as if there are a zillion betas.

Thank you.

Search for SNAP in the Applications forum.

Ver 5Beta8 or higher support GPT.

I am not sure that i would go to beta version just for a single drive back up.

if you do use your PC for the back up, after the first time, it should be fairly quick.
