CAN I USE AN SSHD AS A PARITY DRIVE WITHOUT PROBLEMS?

Recommended Posts

Hi,

Building a more power efficient small NAS for mainly backups (family media and documents),  as I have several 2.5” disk drives from previous laptop upgrades, would like to use then in this build.

Most are SMR a few older are CMR but one is a Seagate ST1000LM014 1TB Hybrid SSHD SATA Drive.

Can a Hybrid SSHD be use as a parity drive or even in the future as a normal drive in the UNRAID Array?

The concern is error in parity or data loss, speed is not relevant in my use case.

Thanks in advance,

MC
