April 23, 20242 yr Since about 3 days ago my server has started locking up during the night, I have not changed the configuration at all which is quite strange. When it locks up the webgui becomes unresponsive and I need to pull the plug, because even the reboot command right on the server keeps looping but never executing. Currently on unraid os 6.12.8. syslog-192.168.8.177.log Edited April 23, 20242 yr by CarlF added os version
April 23, 20242 yr Community Expert Multiple call traces, but don't see what's causing them, you can try to boot the server in safe mode with all docker containers/VMs disabled, let it run as a basic NAS for a few days, if it still crashes it's likely a hardware problem, if it doesn't start turning on the other services one by one.
April 23, 20242 yr Author Could it be a memory issue? (the sticks are like 3 years old), and if so, should I run memtest for a few hours? Edited April 23, 20242 yr by CarlF
April 23, 20242 yr Community Expert It can be, and it's worth running, but keep in mind that memtest is only definitive if it finds errors, since you have multiple sticks you can also try running the server with just one, if the same try with a different one, that will basically rule out bad RAM.
April 24, 20242 yr Author I ran memtest on both sticks individually and one of them failed, for now ill run the server with the one stick that passed the test and see if the issue is gone. Edited April 24, 20242 yr by CarlF

The second stick may still be defective but that would almost totally defy the odds!
April 26, 20242 yr Author Solution It has now been up for 2 days straight, it seems that the bad ram stick was causing the issue, and taking it out fixed it!
