Leon912
Hello everyone, i installed a USP a few days ago. Yesterday we had a power outage when i wasnt home, so i dont know if it worked or not. Today the scheduled parity check ran and gave me some errors. In the system log i see the following: May 1 02:06:17 Unraid-Server kernel: ata2.00: failed command: READ FPDMA QUEUED May 1 02:06:17 Unraid-Server kernel: ata2.00: error: { UNC } May 1 02:06:17 Unraid-Server kernel: I/O error, dev sdc, sector 44018088 op 0x0:(READ) flags 0x0 phys_seg 157 prio class 2 May 1 02:06:17 Unraid-Server kernel: md: disk2 read error, sector=44018024 May 1 02:06:17 Unraid-Server kernel: md: disk2 read error, sector=44018032 May 1 02:06:17 Unraid-Server kernel: md: disk2 read error, sector=44018040 May 1 02:06:17 Unraid-Server kernel: md: disk2 read error, sector=44018048 May 1 02:06:17 Unraid-Server kernel: md: disk2 read error, sector=44018056 May 1 02:06:17 Unraid-Server kernel: md: disk2 read error, sector=44018064 it goes on like that for a while. I ran a short SMART test on that drive which completed without errors. Can you guys help me to find out if that drive is still usable or needs to be replaced? Also is there any way to verify if there was a graceful shutdown or not? I attached the diagnostics. Thanks in advance. unraid-server-diagnostics-20240501-0908.zip Edited May 1 by Leon912 Quote Link to comment
JorgeB
It's logged as a disk problem, you can run an extended SMART, but these errors can be intermittent, still if they keep happening, I would consider replacing that disk. Quote Link to comment
Leon912
Thank you for your answer. I ran an extended SMART test and it came back with no errors. Is there anything else i can do? Also it still says "Array has 1 SMART error." with a thumbs down on the affected disc. Can i get rid of that error message somehow? Quote Link to comment
Solution JorgeB Posted May 7 Solution Share Posted May 7 If the SMART test passed the disk is OK for now, you can click on the thumbs down to acknowledge the current errors, it will then only change if more appear. 1 Quote Link to comment
