May 1, 20242 yr Hello In the Remarks the WAIN IP shows 204.x.x.x. This is not my WAN IP address. I used the :~# curl https://wanip.unraid.net/ 73.x.x.x :~# . This confirmed my WAN IP to be "Seen" correctly. 73.x.x.x is the correct address. But Unraid seems to think the WAN address is 204.x.x.x for some odd reason. this must be a setting of some kind. NO VPNs enabled at this time. How can i fix the Connect feature to show the Correct IP address. Thanks. Edited May 1, 20242 yr by donuts13
May 1, 20242 yr Community Expert Your ISP may be using CGnat. You would need to confirm with your ISP and potential get a Public Static IP to have a direct Wan IP for port forwarding.
May 1, 20242 yr Author I can port fwd other devices without issue. Its not 100% static. but they only change my IP address once every 3-4 years. Ill check with the ISP. would that not be CGnat?
May 2, 20242 yr Community Expert https://nfware.com/blog/what-is-the-difference-between-nat-and-cgnat#:~:text=CGNAT (Carrier-Grade NAT),a single%2C public IP address. it may not be cnat but that definitely sounds like dynamic IP addressing. The issues is on your modem side. The ISP may be using some form of nat. Your modem ip should be accessible to the internet via a public IP. The fact that your modem is giving you a 2xxx address while your public ip check says you have a 7XXXX address tells me that your modem is not getting a true public ip assigned to it. I would also recommend using a dynamic dns name. I have used https://freedns.afraid.org/ when I had public dynamic changing ips int the past. --Then use the curl - K command to update your public ip every week/Month via the User script plugin. May 2, 20242 yr Author Solution Found the issue... For some Unknown Reason the VPN im using on my Desktop was porting through to the Unraid webUI causing it to think its on that 204xxx address. Once i turned off my desktop VPN and refreshed the page i got my 7xxxx ip address and confirmed port forwarding and connectivity.
