1topgazza
My son, who is lead consultant with Citrix so knows his stuff, set up my Unraid server for me. I'm OK with it now after watching him. I've come from 40 years in IT as network engineer and project manager and so far I am very impressed by Unraid over some of the proprietary systems. One question we puzzled over was using cache when uploading movies etc to Plex. The thought was to upload them to cache first then allow mover to move them to the array over night. Made sense but we were a bit concerned if Plex could cope with that. Does that make sense ? My thought was that Plex doesn't "care" until the mover sends the file to whatever folder is specified. Then it just accepts it as in a normal copy and paste. Reason for wanting to use cache was the potential speed up of copying files. I only do one or two so not that much space, say 30Gb and my cache is 256G Quote Link to comment
Solution itimpi Posted May 14 Solution Share Posted May 14 As long as it is configured to access its files via a User Share Plex will not be aware of whether any particular file is currently being cached on a pool or is on the main array. 1 Quote Link to comment
