Pre-clear paused - server unresponsive

Featured Replies

Started a pre-clear on Monday, and was expecting to come back with it complete last night. I found that it was stuck at 99% zeroing and paused. Tried to resume but did not work. I started to notice that a CPU 0 core was pegged to 100%, and some portions of unraid were unresponsive and not loading. I could start/stop dockers and access SMB, but that was it. Could not get logs to download, etc.

So i did a hard reboot. Everything came back up fine and now its all normal. However unfortunately still could not unpause the Pre-clear so i stopped it.

I am curious, should i re-run the pre-clear? If so would it be faster since 99% of the drive was zeroed or would it be going through the entire process again? Below is the current SMART of that drive. This drive will be added to the array as a brand new drive just recently purchased.

when it freezes like this, make sure you can open terminal

in terminal, type diagnostic to create a diag file.

When pre-clearing its best to stop any and all vms/dockers

Good to know for next time, and will stop the Array for pre-clearing.

I went ahead and hit pre-clear again to redo it, but it found previous files and was able to start off where it left!
