Empty drive not being written to.......

Featured Replies

Hi All,

Thanks in advance for any help, it is Most appreciated.  I have the pro version of unraid and I love it!  I currently have 6 drives plus a cache drive and everything seems to be working perfectly.  However, I have noticed that disc 5, a 1tb drive is not being written to at all.  It is completely empty with no shares or folders on the disc.  It shows as "ok- good array disc" but it has not been written to at all and I have several 2tb drives that have fallen below 1tb so it should be filling up no?  I ran a smart report but nothing jumped out at me although I cannot much sense out of it.  Any thoughts?

Thanks,

Don

Sorry I forgot to include that I am running ver 4.7 and I can see my syslog but do not know the appropriate way to share it.  It is rather long and I dont think you want me to cut and paste such a long log.

Thanks again,

Thanks Queball,

I do have one 2tb hd that is down to 1.16 tb of free space.  Maybe my 1tb hd will kick in when that hd falls below 1tb.  Its the only one above 1 tb left out of all 5.

Thanks Queball,

No likely. If you are using high water and have a 2T drive as the largest size then there will be a pass that fills all drives to <1T empty and then there will be a second pass that fills all drives until <500gig free. Your 1T disk5 likely won't start to fill until disk1 to disk3 are <500gig free.

Of course, the above is just a possibility. This question can't be answered since you didn't provide your share settings and disk sizes.

Here are the hard drives I am using.  I hope this is in a useable format.  As for the settings, they are all set at "high water" and the min space setting is at 20000000.

I'd say that disk4 has to get below 500gig before disk5 will be used. Read the high water discription in the Wiki and it should make sense.
