tkenney65 Posted June 10, 2024 Posted June 10, 2024 I've been messing around for the first time with VMs. Last night, my Unraid started freezing when I click on either the Dashboard or VMs options on the menu. When I boot in safe mode without Plugins the freezing does not occur. When I reboot in normal mode and I try to run a plugin (e.g. Fix Common Problems) the system also hangs. Any help in resolving would be appreciated... tower-diagnostics-20240610-0919.zip Quote
JorgeB Posted June 10, 2024 Posted June 10, 2024 That suggests a plugin is the problem, uninstall or disable all and retry after installing one by one. Quote
tkenney65 Posted June 10, 2024 Author Posted June 10, 2024 Thanks.....this helped me diagnose the issue. Turns out the culprit was the Nvidia Driver plugin. It worked fine until I bound the Nvidia GPU/sound to VFIO at boot. When I did that and created a Win VM and tried to pass thru the Nvidia GPU then everything on Unraid froze. Once I removed the VM and the Plugin everything was back to normal. This does make me wonder the proper way to set things up regarding GPUs on my system. Should I tell the Unraid OS to use the built in GPU from the mobo instead of the Nvidia one? While I am learning a lot by tinkering, I am srill a newbie so I am looking for some guidance on this question? Also, I believe I read on another thread that the Nvidia Driver plugin isn't necessary when you are planning on passing through the gpu to a VM? Any truth to that? Ultimately I would like to use the Nvidia GPU as the every day system gpu for when I am tinkering , etc......but would want to use the Nvidia for VMs too. I will be using the Win VM for some gaming. tkenney65 Posted June 11, 2024 Author Posted June 11, 2024 Update.....system seemed to work better throughout the day but still hangs when I select menu items on the Dashboard page. I did have to reinstall the Nvidia Driver plugin as I need it to use Steam Headless (it's a requirement) but my system doesn't seem to like that plugin. I have the latest diagnostics attached which were run in Safe Mode w no plugins as the system kept hanging when I tried to run them in a normal boot with plugins tower-diagnostics-20240610-2021.zip Quote
JorgeB Posted June 11, 2024 Posted June 11, 2024 Can you post a quick video showing the issue with the dashboard? Quote
