Unraid crash locks up Unraid USB

Featured Replies

Hello All

I've been having a rather annoying issue with Unraid, over various versions, locking up the USB drive when it crashes requiring the entire system to be powered off from the mains completely before the drive is detected again.

This happens on baremetal and also when running Unraid in Proxmox (one of the reasons i ran it in proxmox was get round this issue of having to power off the entire system).

Just wondering if anyone has had the same issue or any insights?

What do you mean by this? Also, enable the syslog server and post that after a crash.

The USB drive cannot be booted from until all power is cut from the system or the port is swapped. It is plugged into a USB 2.0 slot.

This is very similar to the widely reported fast boot BIOS setting issue except I don't have that option on my MB.

Syslog is enabled however the crashes are due to macvlan/ipvlan which i've temporary solved using a virtual interface through proxmox.

This doesn't sound like a sofware/Unraid issue.

It only occurs with the Unraid USB, all other devices USB are available. This happens with Unraid as baremetal or VM.

I've found numerous posts detailing the same issue, none of the options work in my case.

Yes, but those are resolved buy changing the BIOS settings, not anything in Unraid.

I've got another of the same motherboard coming and another usb drive, also of the same model, complete with Unraid installation of the same model. I'll test this out over the next few weeks to see if I can replicate the issue.
