Cache drive upgrade

Featured Replies

Hi all.

I'm still new to the unRAID scene and currently a few weeks in to my trial and making lots of progress learning how all works and and how to configure.

Currently testing with the following: -

Asus W680 IPMI mainboard - new

Intel i7 13600 CPU - new

48GB ECC RAM - new

6x 2TB sata drives - old

3x 4TB sata drive - old

1x 256gb NVME drive for cache - old

As I am still buying in all the hardware I want to use, I have been running off of bits I have laying around that included a 256gb NVME drive I have been using for my cache in my TEMP setup and now I have my 21TB NVME drive, I want to migrate to using this.

Currently I am using a lot of docker containers appdata saved to the cache drive and do not have a mover configured for this. I have also configured domains and system to use the cache location.

This is a test system so not to fussed about the lot going down (you learn from your mistakes) but if I can get some guidance on how to do this right the first way, that would be ace!

My question is: - How to I replace my single cache drive for my larger one? Is there a process documented or can anyone advise on what I need to do.

Thanks all,

Hal

What filesystem in the current cache using?

Hi there and thanks for the reply.

It is using btrfs.

Add the new drive as an additional cache pool and use rsync or unbalanced to migrate stuff. I would suggest using zfs for cache myself as then you can make each app data a dataset and snapshot them.
