Howto: Upgrade legacy basic to unleashed

Featured Replies

I am on 6.12.4 basic license. I completely missed the new license type announcement and having reviewed various posts think my best option is to "upgrade" to unleashed. However I can't find any way to do this via the web gui. I only get options to upgrade to pro or lifetime.

I am currently using 5 disks, but I'm thinking about adding SSD cache soon so this is why I think unleashed is a better option than extending my basic for a year (I can't find a way to do that either!)

Can anyone point me in the right direction?

Thanks

Mark

Switching to the new licence model is an expensive way of doing things if you have a legacy licence as legacy licences get free Upgrades to new Unraid releases without the need to pay an annual support fee.    You can Upgrade to Pro (which is functionally identical to Unleashed) for a cheaper price (over more a few years).   You also have the option to upgrade to Plus if all you want is a few more devices supported.

Pro upgrade will be more expensive than Unleashed, at least initially.

Update to v6.12.10 first.

I am on 6.12.4 basic and my year of updates ended a while ago. is this upgrade possible? Do I have to use the manual method?

Thanks

I am reading the license change post and noticed this "You will still be able to access all updates for life, as promised, and upgrade your Basic or Plus license." Before the change, "basic" was limited to one year of updates, but as you say, this seems to be saying that updates are available (although it doesn't say "free"). However, I still don't have any options to update in my GUI!

If only this was more straightforward.

Thanks

Basic has lifetime updates.

Hi JorgeB, I have updated to 6.12.10. Thanks for advising on the lifetime updates. My choice then is to upgrade to legacy plus, with lifetime updates and more devices, or to new unleashed, with unlimited devices but only a year of updates? I think for my purposes legacy plus is the better option as updates are more valuable than devices.

Thanks

There is also the point that from Legacy Plus with lifetime updates you can also later update to Legacy Pro with lifetime updates.

Yep, probably the best option, but you can choose the one you prefer
