June 24, 20242 yr Hopefully the title makes sense... I currently have 3 disks: 16TB - disk 1 8TB - disk 2 8TB - disk 3 I have data on all 3 disks, but I'm using around 11.5 TB. I want to move everything to the 16TB drive, and then use the other 2 x 8TB drives for parity. I currently have set some shares to use disk 1 only, disk 2 or 3 only etc. How would I go about doing this? Would I simply just change the included / excluded disks and unriad will shuffle round the data for me? And once it's finished moving the data, I would then switch over those 2 x 8 TB disks to be parity disks? Screenshot to show you what I mean: Edited June 24, 20242 yr by Deadringers
June 24, 20242 yr Community Expert You cannot do what you want. Every parity drive must be at least the same size as the largest data drive (or larger).

Could I use the 2 x 8TB drives as primary storage, and then 16TB drive as the parity for both? Or would that not work either?

You might want to read up on how parity works here in the online documentation accessible via the Manual link at the bottom of the Unraid GUI.

Would I move the data as I laid out in the initial post on this? Would it just move all the data it could over hours/days and relocate the data?

The Unbalance plugin might help with this, or you could use the Dynamix File manager.
