Cache showing wrong free space and disk allocation

Featured Replies

I have a 500gb M2 as my cache drive.

The usual shares are on there plus two that I have added, downloads and downloading.

When I look at the share setup, the are exclusive to the SSD and nothing is on the array.

Yet when I look at the shares screen, one shows 8.1tb and the second 24tb free disk space.

Even those numbers dont equate to what is free on the actual array.

Whats even worse, when I go in to the directory browser for the /usr path, I see that both of the shares have allocations on random disks in the array.

How has this happened and what can I do to fix it ?

You should post your system's diagnostics zip file in your next post in this thread to get more informed feedback.  It is always a good idea to post this if your question might involve us seeing how you have things set up or to look at recent logs.

Both shares have files (or folders) in the array, move or delete them.

The diagnostics show

d---------g shareUseCache="only" # Share exists on cache, disk8
d-------s shareUseCache="only" # Share exists on cache, disk2, disk3, disk4, disk6, disk14

and the size  shown in the GUI will depend on what disks contain files for the share.

If a share is set to "Only" (i.e. no secondary storage set) then mover will do nothing and any existing files that belong to this share but are not on the 'cache' pool will be left there.  If you want mover to transfer files to the pool then you need to have the array as secondary storage and the mover direction s et appropriately.  I cannot tell if those shares will actually fit on the pool?

BTW:  You have no Minimum Free Space set for the 'cache' pool.  You should  set this to stop the cache ever getting completely full as this can cause problems as well.

Thanks for all the advice.

Its odd because both of the shares had no files on the array, there were directories of the same name but that was all.

I have deleted the directories from the array, lets see what happens.

That is enough to get the drives included in the space calculations.   Deleting the empty folders will rectify the space calculation.
