disk failure during Data-Rebuild of parity disk 2

Featured Replies

Replacing my parity 2 disk from 10tb 5400prm to 10tb 7500rpm i initiate a data rebuild. Soon into it Disk 4 goes into disabled and data emulated. They disk 6 throws read errors. They climb into the 25,000,000 count then stop for a while. Then come back and climb to 97,000,000. No temp on either disk 6 or disk 4.

In this situation i am unsure of the safest/appropriate action to complete the Data-Rebuild on parity 2 and then rebuild disk 4 after completion. The current status of disk 6 i dont understand why the error are climbing and nothing is writing to parity 2. Yet the Data-Rebuild percentage is climbing. If 6 has also failed why no device is disabled identification.

I am not fully extrapolating other stories on the forum to my situation. Diagnostics attached

Both disks dropped offline, this is generally a power/connection issue, but I see you are using a controller with port multipliers, so it could also be that

Appreciate the response. In short, I am not sure what port multipliers are. They were never an issue until i swapped the 10tb for 10tb for parity 2. Should i stop the rebuild check connections and start up again.

It's worth try, for the dropped disks, especially if they share a power splitter, if after doing that it happens again I would recommend replacing that ad-don controller.
