Vetteman
Today when I turned on my second UNRAID server, I notice this message memtester: no process found It was the final line just before Unraid displaying the OS version 6.12.9, ip v4 address of the server. Do I need to be concerned about this? Other than the message, everything else appears to be fine, shares are available, docker is up and plugins have loaded. Thanks kindly.... JorgeB
That doesn't look like a stock install error, does it show up if you boot in safe mode? Quote Link to comment
Vetteman
I haven't booted into safe mode. Will do shortly. Thanks... Quote Link to comment
Vetteman
Looks like I will not be booting into safe mode until my monthly parity check stops running. Quote Link to comment
Vetteman
Just booted into safe mode. The message "memtester : no process found" is NOT displaying. Quote Link to comment
Vetteman
I rebooted my server out of safe mode, but now I am getting an error that my flash drive maybe corrupt. I believe the last time I had a corrupt flash drive was after rebooting out of safe mode. I powered the server down and placed the flash drive into my Windows 11 computer where I ran a scan disk which found errors and "fixed them". However the Unraid files and folders have been replaced with a single folder with an cryptic name of ascii characters. The last time I have this issue, running a san disk on my then Windows 10 computer resolved the issue. I truly wish Unraid would allow us to install Unraid to SSD or regular hard drive. As a very active photographer, even photographers know it is NOT WISE to save your precious photos to jump drives, compact flash, SDs or any other flash media as they are volitile. Vetteman
I was able to restore my thumb drive from backup. Not wanting to go through registering another replacement flash drive, I simply formated the failed drive (full format not a quick) on my Windows 11 computer. I thought it would be simpler to take another chance on the failed flash drive then go through Limetech's process of making me feel like I am committing a criminal offense. Unraid booted fine but immediately started a parity check despite being run a day or so ago and reported only ONE error. There was no message about memtester. Overnight the parity check completed and is reporting it took 17 hours, 49 minutes, 22 seconds. Average speed 124.7 MB/s and 710 errors, In the past I believe the most errors I've had on either one of my two Unraid boxes is 4. Is it possible I have data corruption? Also the BTRFS file system got trashed on one of my cache drives which had hardly any data on it. This is the second time I've had the BTRFS trashed on one of my cache drives. The other time it was on my other (primary) Unraid server. I've heard reports that BTRFS is now not recommended on cache drives. Many thanks for listening.... Solution Rysz Posted August 4 Solution Share Posted August 4 This is merely a diagnostic message from the "Live Memory Tester" plugin that checks for a running process of itself before installing. It doesn't mean anything is wrong and it shouldn't appear in the system logs, merely on the boot screen (as that's extremely verbose by default). 1 Quote Link to comment
