[Resolved] Multiple NICs on the same IPv4 network

sure, cannot work at all!

On eth0 you have activated bonding in "active backup" mode, but the only bond member is eth0.

Giving eth1 the same address and config does not work (as you might know now already :-.) )

Instead, add eth1 to the bond of eth0 (the eth1 config will vanish, it is not needed).

But keep in mind, nothing will become faster or better or more reliable. Active backup means that only the first line is used unless it loses connection. Then Unraid switches over to eth1. It helps if the cable is killed by your hamster, but nothing else.

Nothing to do. Active Backup is the only Bond that makes (at least) a bit of sense.

All other modes require support from your switch and also do not give speed benefits unless you have hundreds of clients to feed.

Bonding (aka "port aggragation") is usually overestimated, it does not help in normal environments.

Normally you dont need it, just pull out the cable on eth1, turn off bonding and disable the card. You sleep better with this, believe me. And keep the hamster within its cage.

it may happen because of your active backup bond (former). "the others" (mainly your router) learns which ip address uses which MAC (hardware adress, unique for each card) and stores the info in the so called ARP cache.

If the bond switches the cards, the others do not know and there is a grace period up to one hour in which they try to answer to the old card (which fails miserably of course).

After the cache times out they relearn the IP/MAC pair and everything is fine again until the next switchover...

Thats why bonding sounds good but can give a lot of grief to the unpatient heart...

But now my share isn't populating in the network folder as before

Don't know Plex, but it often happens, that Windows does not keep track of changes within a network folder. Try to see if it is a windows problem, or something is wrong on the server side.

In windows hit F5 within the open explorer window of the share. If the changes become visible, its a windows caching problem.

(and, sorry again, no idea how to "fix" it. It happens sometimes and it works sometimes too.)

If nothing changes, problems are on the server side. And, as I said, I dont know plex. I dont stream here, its a waste of computing power and energy.

Ive got the same issue. Should i create my own topic?
Ive added a 10G NIC. Recognized as eth1.
I only want to use that one, the other one as eth0 is not connected. Ive got no bonding, no bridging and static IP on eth1. But then I have no resolving. Only when I set DNS servers for eth0, will it resolve stuff.
Ive got DNS static now, but all IPs automatic for diagnostic purposes. As of now I get errors but it works:

eth0 does not have a valid IP address, but eth1 does. For the best experience, you should go to Network Settings and adjust the settings (Interface Rules) so that eth0 is your primary NIC

I want eth1 to be my primary. Disabling my mainboard NIC in BIOS didnt help.

You should switch the MAC addresses for eth0 and 1 (making the 10G card eth0).

Some settings like DNS are ONLY available to eth0. And if you do not want to use the 1G card anymore, its better to turn it off with the rules too.

Thanks. I forgot that.
Now the macvlan is gone (got docker macvlan on). Dont remember whether i should create one myself, or why that is?
I use it for Adguard Home for instance. But i believe it should also allow connections between VMs and containers.
