January 29, 201214 yr Can someone please confirm this: Will 5.0b14 recognize a precleared and zeroed 3 TB disk, or zero the disk again?
January 29, 201214 yr I have an array with six 3TB WD Caviar Green. Works fine in 5.0b14. Cheers, Matthew.

Or, Did you add a 3TB drive after already establishing parity? (This is what we need confirmed, as unRAID does not clear drives if parity is not established. It only clears drives if adding an additional drive to a parity protected array.) Please take a moment to clarify... Joe L.
January 29, 201214 yr Hmm, I added all the drives at the same time. My array began with all six 3TB drives, all precleared and then started the array.

Thanks, then you did not confirm a 3TB precleared drive is recognized as precleared, as no zeroing/clearing takes place when initially assigning an array. It ONLY occurs when adding an additional disk to an array that already has a parity drive installed, if a preclear-signature is not found on the newly added disk. Since the prices of 3TB drive skyrocketed after the floods in the factories, hardly anybody has added additional 3TB drives to their arrays on recent releases of unRAID, and we know for sure the older beta releases did not properly recognize the preclear signature. We'll just have to wait for somebody else to confirm recognition of a preclear signature of a 3TB drive works on the current release.
January 30, 201214 yr Author One other question; Is there a page in the 5.0b14 GUI like the Devices page in 4.7. Where slots and interfaces per disk are listed? Or is there an addon or plugin for 5.0 that can do that?

Why do you need that? unRAID 5.0b no longer uses the "slots" concept, all disc are retrieved and remembered by serial number. 5.0 is much better at remembering what disks are assigned to where in the GUI. You can move a disk from controller to controller to controller and it is much better. The main page lists the drives that are assigned and when the array is stopped it will list any ones that are available to add to the array.

On the devices page I could see if a disk was in the "main" server tower or in the attached eSATA tower. It just takes some time to get used to the new situation I guess.
