April 9, 200818 yr hey guys, just came across this great little program today. i was currently running WHS, but am wanting to give this a try i've got it loaded and running on the computer, but i'm stuck on the login screen. i've searched through the manual, but can't see any details on default login
April 9, 200818 yr Login name is "root", no password. But you should type "//tower" in your browser address bar to see if the System Management Utility comes up.
April 9, 200818 yr Author thanks mate, i had tried that as well and didn't work, thats why i thought i needed to log in first. but it was the domain name stoping me one more question. i'm in the process of moving files around atm, to try and get 2 drives free to get it started then add 1 drive more at a time as i move over and free up ect. in the web interface, theres 3 drop down boxes for hard drives, will that expand automaticly as all 3 spots are filled, or do i have to do something else to config files ect to increase that?
April 9, 200818 yr That question is easy to answer... The free version of unRaid will handle 3 drives. The "Plus" version of unRaid will handle 6 drives. The "Pro" version of unRaid will handle 16 drives and an additional "cache" drive for fast writing to the array. The process of upgrading is on this page: http://lime-technology.com/?page_id=40 On the registration page you will enter the serial number of your USB flash drive as seen on the "Devices" management page and then press "Buy Now" to enter billing details. Once registered, lime-technology will then send back via e-mail a "key" file to be put in the config folder on the USB drive. Once that file is in place and the unRaid system rebooted, the additional slots on the device management page will appear. You will not need to re-load the USB key, or any of your data disks when you upgrade, the data you load now will still be there. The upgrade does not require you to re-compute parity, it simply opens up the ability to add and manage more disks on the "Devices" management page, and also enables user-security features and the cache drive not available on the free version. April 9, 200818 yr hmmm, that makes me think twice now. my usb stick i've had for a couple years now, if i was to say purchase a pro key, and my thumb drive died. am i going to be able to get a new key for the new drive without having to pay again I'd recommend buying a new USB stick (or 2) to use with unRAID. I bought 2 1G "Kingston" sticks for $7 each. The "official" policy is that your license is tied to your USB drive serial number. But Tom has posted in the forums that he will be reasonable in cases where USB drives fail. There have been numerous people with broken USB sticks that have contacted Tom privately and Tom has issued replacement keys for free. I think the policy is in place to prevent abuse. BTW, if you've monitored these forum for very long, you'll notice that the community here is very active in helping people resolve problemss. Tom (the author) also helps people resolve problems (as you saw as he responded to your original post). unRAID is being enhanced on a frequent basis. Production releases of unRAID are very stable, indicative of good discipline in the testing cycles. Beta versions are available to anyone interested in doing beta testing. I am a very happy customer since February of this year.
