Zedan Posted September 19, 2024 Posted September 19, 2024 Hi all, I have been testing unRAID free trial on an old Dell Optiplex and have been very happy with how it has been working however, I have bought a 10 TB Seagate and I can not get it to spin up under PSU power and it won't detect in the BIOS of my mobo. If I put it in an external Caddy the drive will spin up and show in Windows where I can initialize and format it as needed. MOBO: Asus Strix B560-i CPU: i5 11400 Drive: IronWolf PRO ST10000NT001 Any Ideas on what I am doing wrong? Quote
Frank1940 Posted September 19, 2024 Posted September 19, 2024 Try using a 'Molex to SATA power adapter'. This adapter does not supply 3.3 volts to the drive. There are a few HD's which use one of the 3.3V supply terminals as a reset signal when if is high. (No 3.5" drive requires 3.3V as a supply voltage.)
