rick.p
That looks like the same card but it's not the same seller. It was recommended by someone else in a thread I had started on 'was this build good'. Will know soon I guess. Quote Link to comment

It was recommended by someone else in a thread I had started on 'was this build good'. Will know soon I guess. So did it go well? I'm using the SIL3132 card from monoprice and I've been getting parity sync errors lately as well. Considering changing the card to see if that fixes the problem. Thanks. Quote Link to comment
mbryanr
I have two of the JMicron $8 specials in my server. They work well with no issues. Have to be careful though as they may not be recognized if your board already has a JMicron controller. http://lime-technology.com/forum/index.php?topic=10165.0 Here was the original seller: http://www.ebay.com/itm/PCI-E-PCIE-RAID-Express-Card-2-SATA-II-Controller-/130617224431?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item1e6964acef#ht_4186wt_1112 Quote Link to comment

(Hopefully). Problems been happening for couple months now but I haven't had time to look into it until now. Quote Link to comment

After NINE WEEKS of no delivery, they finally refunded my money on the ones I ordered from them. They were pleasant but did stall a long time and they never came. Gives the expression "slow boat from China" new meaning. And they don't provide order tracking other than 'it shipped' Quote Link to comment
UhClem
Another innocent convicted??? Consider: The SiI3132 has been in extensive/intensive use, in industry for 7.5 years! Do you really think that such a problem would have gone undetected until recently? No, I am not doubting the issue "uncovered" here [kudos to Chuck for his sleuthing]. Clearly, a "crime" has been perpetrated; but Who is the real perpetrator? Light up the crime scene please ... 1. Are these legit Silicon Image 3132s, or at least officially-licensed? 2. Is there any common link between the problematic controller cards? 3. What motherboard is involved? There are good reasons to move past the 3132, primarily performance limitations. But, at least, let it retire with dignity? Quote Link to comment
lionelhutz
Does it really matter? The fact is that a device reported as a SiL3132 (real or counterfit) is having trouble, be it caused by the chip itself or the implimentation of the chip. It is a very bad issue because it causes silent data corruption and lots of it. At the end of the day, users should be aware of this issue. Quote Link to comment

Can you be clear which seller you had problems with? Quote Link to comment

jonlai9
Thanks again to this thread - verified with MD5 method that it is the SIL3132 card is causing me problems during parity check. I will buy the one from the seller charging $10 then, since rick.p suggested he had problems with the seller. Hope this works. Quote Link to comment
