September 23, 20241 yr I replaced a 2TB disk with an 8TB disk and added it to my array. Everything seemed fine. I then used Unbalanced to transfer all contents from a 4TB to the new 8TB disk. The process finished successfully. I then stopped the array and unassigned the 4TB disk. When I started the array back up the new 8TB disk is showing as unmountable and is asking to be reformatted. I ran xfs repair from the GUI twice but it failed both times. (attached) I've attach my diagnostics file as well. The disk in question is: WDC_WD80EFPX-68C4ZN0_WD-RD0M8AUE (sdf) What are the next steps I should take to get the disk to mount? xfs repair 2 xfx repair 1 tower-diagnostics-20240923-1055.zip Edited September 23, 20241 yr by ryanth
September 23, 20241 yr Community Expert Start by running memtest, to make sure there's not an obvious RAM problem.
September 23, 20241 yr Author I've been googling for the past 15 minutes to find instructions on how to run memtest and haven't found a reliable process. Here is what I found: Using a new usb stick put https://www.memtest86.com/ on it Reboot my machine with the stick plugged in and enter the bios (using a keyboard and mouse) Select the usb to run memtest? Is that correct? Do I need to format the usb stick to work correctly?
September 23, 20241 yr Author I ended up using the Live Memory Tester and it's gone through several loops with no errors. It doesn't seem to be the RAM. Is there something else I can try?
September 24, 20241 yr Community Expert You can try updating to v7.0.0-beta since it includes newer xfsprogs and see if xfs_repair can then fix the filesystem.
